We booked a tour of Merida with Mayan Incentives through our hotel's recommendation.
Our tour guide Elias and the driver Gabriel were superb. Elias knowledge of history, plus his pithy delivery of it, as well as the political discussions (we asked and shared opinions) made this a worthwhile introduction to a fascinating city. Elias showed us the colonial section, the old city, the cemetery (do not by-pass), the government houses. He intertwined the history of the Maya and the Spanish, and presented us a city that is calm, compassionate, and thriving.
