I'm a regular visitor to The Apple Tree and went with 8 friends for a meal last Friday night. This was our first revisit since the facelift and whilst the beer and food were excellent value and most enjoyable, I found some of the changes spoilt the previous nice atmosphere of this pub. The background music has become foreground music and it was difficult to hear our conversations. There is now a large table near the bar, which at one stage, due to queing at the bar, made it impossible to move from one side of the pub to the other. Children, babies, puschairs and dogs were all over the place, whereas they were previously only allowed in part of the pub.
Service at the bar was greatly improved, with more staff on duty.

As someone who is gluten intolerant I find it very off putting when I ask what my gluten free options are and I am provided with a large A4 folder full of charts to look at! Even then the charts told me that the chips are gluten free but when I asked if they were cooked in a separate fryer to all the breaded products, I was told they weren't which means cross contamination issues to someone who is gluten intolerant or gluten sensitive. This left me with no confidence so I settled on a packet of ready salted crisps. Come on Ember Inns, It's 2017! You need to take gluten intolerance more seriously and surely you can create a gluten free menu to look at like the majority of restaurants in the UK.

A great place for some food and drinks. With a good range of foods and a ok drinks range.
And when the sun is actually out the outside seating area is normally full.

A very well presented place to eat and enjoy a good meal. Food is very well cooked and presented for the price. A good selection of ales as well as a good area for kiddies.
