Wonderful hotel right on the sea. Really well situated for Funchal Lovely helpful staff. Can't praise them enough. We had a great time and will definitely return.

Been here for yet another week. Excellent facilities and service throughout. Restaurant food top-rate. Our favourite place for relaxation and quality.

Fabulous place. Superb position, within easy walking distance just about everything. Great food, wonderful accommodation and the very best staff in the world. If I could visit only one place this would be it!

Pros: guest relations are excellent and try really hard to make your stay comfortable and to smooth over any problems
Cons: attention to detail is poor requiring you to repeatedly point out problems that should be proactively handled by the army of staff employed by this hotel.
The air con is poor and badly maintained in the guest bedrooms, the room service is inconsistent (toiletries, handtowels, coffee creamer not being replaced), bar staff do not come around and ask you if you want to order drinks (pool service is usual in a 5* hotel). A lack of items at breakfast (I asked for almond milk, which they advertise they have, on multiple mornings, but they didn't bother to get any in). Drinks in the bar are expensive, but then again this is a 5* hotel so it's up to you if you want to pay. The hotel feels like it needs a bit of an update: the furniture is a bit old and worn out in the guest rooms.
There are lots of little problems here which become annoying when you stay here for 10 nights. They could all be sorted out fairly easily by the management by introducing simple quality checks e.g. a supervisor checks that a room has been restocked with toiletries each day. As a guest you shouldn't have to point out problems over and over again.
