One of the best mexican restaurants in Amsterdam. There are three Los Pilones, this one in the Jordaan area, which makes it usually less crowded than the one in Kerkstraat (nearby Leidseplein). The menus are the same and the staff, equally nice. I've tried many dishes and I specially liked the "enchilada verde" and the "alambre". The nachos are also worth trying but take in account that unlike other first this is a big plate. Portions are not that big and you might end wanting more but they are properly cooked and tasty. If you are a hot food lover try all three hot sauces from the house (jalapeño, habanero and chipotle) and then refresh your throat with some mexican beer, soda or even better, their famous margarita which comes in three flavors (strawberry, lemon, mango). Might seem expensive but the cocktail glass is quite big and you get an extra "jarrito" with it. If you are a group, go for it and order the big jar! Buen provecho!

Good service. Food served within minutes. Nice music. Comfortable seats. Ate all the food served. Delicious!! comment. Menu very simple. Food adapted to European style. Good value! Big portions.

I found Los Pilones based on recommendations for good nachos, so we decided to try it out for my girlfriends birthday. They were very accommodating for a larger party (8-10 people).It's a small place, but the atmosphere was really nice, they didn't over-do it with the Mexican theme.
Service was decent, and the margaritas were very large, and very delicious, they even give you a little jug on the side with extra mix. The food was good, not the best Mexican food I have ever had by any means, but certainly enjoyable. The price was a bit on the high side, however most dishes were quite filling, so its not like it was a rip-off.
In summary: good food, good drinks, good atmosphere. The only thing that would keep me from going back more often is the somewhat high price, but for me it will be a fun place to go to every now and then.
