Failed at nearly every turn. UNSAFE for guests with CHILDREN. Dangerous and dirty. No health and safety, NOT a 5* hotel by any means:
1. The pool closes at around 7pm in the evening so that they can float candles for the restaurant guests (there was barely anybody in the restaurant). So in the boiling hot evenings after a long day wandering around, no pool. We had to pay entry to use a pool in another hotel. Dar Rhizlane staff lied to us and told us "every pool in morocco closes this time".
2. Told us we couldn't swim whilst candles were in pool as it was not safe. They then arranged for the pool to close later the next day, and put the apparently dangerous candles (big heavy plastic floating globe things) IN THE POOL WHILST WE were swimming and LIT them.
3. Left bags and bottles of toxic pool cleaning chemicals around the pool and told us "don't worry it's made of natural ingredients". If a child were to drink or eat these, they would die.
These sacks also obstructed the steps out of the pool meaning that we could not have gotten in or out easily in an emergency.
4. Pool was infested by white mould. Collected it in a bottle and showed staff who acknowledged it.
5. Tiles in the bathroom cut my knee very badly, and stopped me from doing things like going in rivers/waterfalls on our expensive day trips (which was part of the point of going), due to infection risks. Man came and stuck some masking tape on it and told us he would be back the next day to securely repair. NEVER HAPPENED.
6. Birds and pigeons share the pool and poo everywhere around it, drink from it and bathe in it throughout the day.
7. The sunbeds are covered in white towel sheets. They were thoroughly dirty, with the outlines of people's orange body marks, tea spills, chocolate smears and so on. As were the "clean" towels. I stormed into reception to complain who told me it was all flower droppings from the tree above. Absolute joke that a flower can leave a human body print.
8. We complained every day and asked to speak to the manager. Nothing happened.
9. Sent two 14 page emails with all photographic evidence of these things and I can see that the emails have been opened and viewed, but ignored. I finally left a comment on the facebook page a week ago who told me that the hotel said they received a fax from me and were dealing with it. I've never sent a fax. More dishonesty.
I have requested a full refund of my hotel costs and my tour costs since both were totally ruined by the 2-3 times daily complaints and confrontations with staff. I finally tried to get a hold of the manager at breakfast on our last day when we had booked a taxi to the airport to leave at 8.00am. The hotel were aware we were leaving and instead of addressing my refund request, told me to pay the rest of my bill and offered me a free spa treatment or dinner in the restaurant... and did not see the problem with that given that I was leaving the country in 10 minutes.
