Smarthostel Berlin was located right in between U Seestrasse and U Leopoldplatz, with connections to U9, U6, bus and trams.
The rooms were small but efficient and the heating, hot water etc worked well. There is security and laundry in the building as well as an elevator.
Various supermarkets, flea markets and other sources of shopping are also within walking distance

Clean, cheap, close to U-Bahn, free parking on street. Ideal for friends or for families.

This place is cheap and accommodates the very basic needs. It's a good place if all you want is a place to leave your luggage and sleep. It says on their website that there is WiFi throughout the building but that is false. WiFi is only available in their closet of a lobby and the common room which is at the very end of a sketchy maze-like corridor. They don't provide complimentary coffee or even cups. They provide one 2' x 1' towel per bed and a container of hand soap. Each twin bed has a reading light. They have a kitchen sink and counter but no microwave or coffee pot. They have a buffet breakfast for 6 Euro but it's better to go to mcdonald's or burger king. The check out time is 11 am, which in my opinion is too early since all of the attractions open at 10, so we ended up lugging everything around with us.

Very clean convinient hostal close to the heart of Berlin. Its 3 minutes walk from the metro station. And just 10 minutes ride with that metro to the city centre. All in alla great value for that price!
