Good food, had the chef menu with wine pairing. Service was a little slow, but friendly. I do like the location.

I enjoy trying talked about restaurants around north american, and this was, without a doubt, a MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT! If you like pretentious atmospheres, small portions, and high prices you will be right at home. Definitely will not be recommending this place to any of our fellow colleagues in the medical community.
Problems with the restaurant:
1.) Waited 2 hours for food
2.) Table next to us got already 5 courses while we waited for 2 hours, stared and were hungry.
3.) Manager attended to the adjacent table and did not even visit our table to apologize for the wait, apparently we were not important enough.
4.) Parking on streets of vancouver is only 2 hours when we ran out of time, due to the long wait, I approached the manager to break a 10$ bill to put more money in the meter, HE WOULD NOT BREAK IT OR GIVE ME CHANGE
5.)Very pretentious restaurant management
6.) Food portions were very small, from a nutritional perspective, I calculated the calorie content of the venison when I arrived at home, estimate calorie count 350-400 kcal. If that.Not enough for a man of any size, you will definitely need a macdonald burger after. If you have 3 meals a day, to achieve the recommended 2000kcal recommendation by health canada, you will not achieve it by relying on this place as your third meal of the day!

Poor service, poor food, rude management. This restaurant will not fare well in the fine dining sector of Vancouver, especially with all the great French eats out there and better customer service. The owner was in a foul mood and with a sour face like that, he will not get far in the restaurant business. It may be "Vancouver's Longest Standing French Restaurant", but La Gavroche certainly is also "Vancouver's Worst French Restaurant". If they used to be good, then they have fallen down far now. I predict this restaurant will CLOSE DOWN eventually. Just wait and see.
