The first time I visited this Clarendon location, a waiter dumped a pitcher of ice water on my coworker's crotch. A few minutes later, a different waiter started to tip over a glass while he was bringing our entrees. In his rush to grab the glass, he shot his hand out and slammed a dinner plate full of food into the bridge of my nose. Not a bump-- a full-on bash in the nose.

Later on, I had a work function at American Tap room. I ordered a drink, and when it came, I found several dead, desiccated brown bugs floating in my glass. I understand that it's difficult to provide perfect service. I know that bugs get into everything, and that even the best waiters spill sometimes. However, my two experiences at American Tap Room have been so very bad that I would warn anyone against visiting, and the next time I'm invited I will bow out.

Lots of beers on tap but nothing very limited. Food was good and came out pretty quick. Staff has been great all 4 visits

I rarely write reviews but I thought I should take the time for this public service. Don't let the looks deceive you. You might as well go to a dive bar. I asked for outdoor seating and I was asked if first come first served was ok. It wasn't that busy so I said ok. It should be labeled as first come no serve. The waiter asked what I would like, didn't wipe down the table. To make it easy on him I submitted a drink order as well as dinner. He took my order: the beer arrived 3 mins later and the dinner a few later. The runner threw down the food and then left. Didn't ask if I needed anything else. At minimum a napkin and utensils would have been nice. Finished the beer. The waiter came and checked in on other tables but not mine. I sat there and let my food get cold because I did not even have water to wash it down with. After about five minutes of no drink and letting my food get cold the server arrived. I ordered a napkin and another beverage. Yes folks I ordered a napkin after receiving food. I then finished my cold and somewhat bland dinner. After finishing dinner I was asked "If I was done with my plate." Not even a standard "How was everything". 10 mins later he arrived with the check. I guess at this point I should not have expected much. If you would like to take a ride on the trolley pub go here, otherwise any hole in the wall will do.

Prior to leaving the establishment and sharing my review publicly I asked to speak to the manager on duty. The server that I spoke to yat the hostess stand brought me my original server after clearly discussing the matter with a man in a white shirt who appeared to be the manager. After not having the opportunity to share my feedback with the manager on duty I made the decision to post publicly on review sites.

I rarely complain about restaurants, but for this I had to make an exception. The beer is good, but the entrees here are very bad and the portion sizes are very small. I ordered the salmon entree which comes with rice and asparagus. The salmon was about half the size you would expect it to be, there was only four tiny asparagus spears, and the rice tasted like dry leftovers that they had thrown in the microwave. For $20, I would expect better quality than this. My friend also ordered the "jumbo" scallops and what you get are about 3-4 scallops that are a little over an inch in diameter. He had to order a side of fries to make it a full meal.

My friends and I tried out ATR for Easter brunch today. They had a special Easter brunch buffet that deviated from their normal brunch buffet. Overall, I would say the food was exactly what you'd expect at an average chain, with a few stand-outs. My friends love mac and cheese and raved about theirs. I really liked the peach baked French toast, but nothing else really left an impression. They had deviled eggs, which I was excited about, but they looked like they'd been sitting there all day and the yolks were starting to harden.

Having said that, we also got bottomless mimosas and really enjoyed them. The service is also exquisite. Oh! And the powdered donuts are part of the buffet, but you have to order them from your server. Do it! Because they are incredible and will change the way you think about donuts forever.

All things considered, it was a fine experience, but worth the steep price? Not necessarily in my opinion.
