Beautiful icon of Birmingham's former glory. Perfect for afternoon picnics by the fountain or tours of the museum. The local restaurant festival was amazing with great music and delicious food.

Cool place, but...The Halloween nighttime scaring event they have... Scaring people is one thing, but when my wife and little sister in law were separated from our group by a clown into a corner and were touching noses with them and not letting them move, it was getting just uncomfortable. In addition, people smelling me saying, “You smell like a virgin” or scaring us saying, “Nice orgasm face” was waaay too much.

This is an amazing self guided stop in time. The facility is massive, awesome, I believe parts are wheelchair accessible, others are not. It is full of nooks and crannies, and the sheer size of this will leave you breathless. The staff in the welcome center are very helpful and nice. I had no idea that this plant and business was so relevant to the founding/growth of Birmingham.

Went to Sloss fest for the second year. Had such an awesome time. Not only for the music but Sloss has such a rich history and you see it all around you there. They do this amazing iron pouring "show" and tell you all about how it's done and what everything is. Planning a trip there with the kids on a regular weekday. Can't wait.

It's free! When you get there, you can get a brochure that walks you through a self-guided tour. Some areas were roped off even though the brochure told you to go into them, which wasn't ideal, but overall, this was a unique, interesting, and free experience. One of my favorite things I did in Birmingham. Great spot for pictures.

Also, there were plenty of people around on a Saturday, so it wasn't excessively creepy.
